So what's the deal?

Postby Wheelin4Life » Sun Aug 09, 2009 5:25 pm

I've been out of the 4x4 scene for almost a year now, but I'm looking into getting another jeep and lifting it. I decided to come and check the site and forum. I looked through the event calender and saw nothing about an annual ride. Being from RI, we all know that there a few, if any places to offroad any more. RIOHVA was the one descent event I looked forward to last year, and the 4x4's were not able to go. So I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about if there's going to be an annual ride, or there are any new spots to go riding in or around RI.

You should join one of the clubs in the NEA (<-LINK) that is where the 4x4 guys are.

There are many Southern MA clubs you could join and one from RI.

I have not put the annual ride on the calendar yet, but we will be having it and our meeting. I think the date is going to be 11/15/09.

We have not submitted a request for insurance yet. The outcome when we do will determine which vehicles can be included.

Just an FYI ~ The next NEA meeting is August 29th in Southern NH. The following meeting will November 7th in Long Island NY.

If you plan to try and obtain insurance from one of the NEA clubs, the meeting in 2 weeks will probably be your only opportunity to plead your case.

Use that information, however you see fit!

Insider info guys:

The NEA4WDC could not even offer insurance to the Great American Jeep Rally, Inc. this year for the reason it was not an association member club. GAJR dropped its relationship/ties with any clubs to be it's own entity and that threw the monkey wrench into insurance. After some legal wrangling we got it worked out.

We the NEA now have insurance through K&K Insurance, they do all the big northeast motorsport events, basically if its wheels and motors, they cover it. I'd be very happy to help you out any way I can, directions, names, contacts, but to be honest our secretary Tammy VanGemert is the expert on it, set up the policy, pulls the certs for events and such. I just simply write the checks. She could tell you a lot more about it.

Good luck, insurance sucks, necessary evil and all that.
